Sheffield Wednesday v Lincoln City: a valuable point gained

The Imps travelled to Sheffield on Saturday and took a step forward after Tuesday night's abysmal performance by drawing 1-1 at Hillsborough.
The midweek game brought a sense of fear for many Imps fans. Ex-Imp, Alex Woodyard, captained a mid-table Wimbledon side and bossed the game from start to finish. With some of the quality players Wednesday have, it looked as though we could be at the end of a battering.
However, it was the Lincoln City of old who turned up and battled hard. Whilst some of the quality isn't quite there and the absence of an out-and-out striker like Tom Hopper is clearly missing, there are many positives to take out of the 1-1 draw such as the debut of Freddie Draper who stretched and pushed their defence back very well. The young Imp did not look out of place.
Lewis Montsma and Jamie Robson showed real quality throughout the game and are evidently Championship standard. Chris Maguire is starting to become more involved in the games and dictating play which is huge for the Imps as a player of his quality and pedigree can only fire us further up the table.
We shut down Wednesday and humbled them. They believe they're too big for League One and who can blame them? But with boos at half-time and the end of the game from the home fans they look set for another season in League One. Another big club that thought they would walk the league.
Now for the Imps, it's all about staying consistent. A very tough fixture away at Wigan on Tuesday will be a real test, especially with our favourite Ref Seb Stocksbridge who famously sent off Billy Knott at Notts County in 2017.
The Imps require a player who can quickly turn defence into attack as we seem slow with our build-up play. Lasse Sorensen shows signs of that but just hasn't done it consistently enough.
8 points off the playoffs are far from a disaster at this stage of the season. If the fans and club can stay optimistic with a few new additions in the New Year and Tom Hopper to return as well... never say never to sneaking into the playoffs near the end.
The Imps have pulled of bigger miracles, haven't they?
