How Lincoln City can still get automatic promotion

Michael Appleton's Imps have exceeded expectations this season, whilst they may have had a slight dip in form in January and February, Lincoln have hit form at the right time and find themselves just outside the automatic positions.
With Hull already having taken one of those positions, the Imps will have to settle for second place and the final automatic position. Peterborough currently occupies that spot and with both teams still to play one another, what do the Imps have to do to get that spot?
Lincoln can currently get a total of 84 points if they win their three remaining games. On the other hand, Peterborough is currently on 83 points with two games remaining.
Therefore, Lincoln cannot afford to drop any points anywhere. The Imps must beat Peterborough, Charlton, and Wimbledon. The Imps must also hope their LNER stadium counterparts, Doncaster Rovers, manage to at least get a draw with Peterborough.
However, even if Lincoln beat Peterborough on Saturday and Doncaster draw with Peterborough, the goal difference between the two clubs looks far too substantial for the Imps to close that gap. Peterborough is currently on 34 whilst Lincoln sees themselves on 21. So, unless the Imps can score 13 goals in three games it is unlikely for Appleton's Imps to close the gap.
Lincoln will be hoping that Doncaster Rovers will be able to beat Peterborough on the final day of the season whilst the Imps win all their remaining games. Doncaster recently came from two goals behind to draw with Peterborough away from home so it is not an unrealistic feat that Doncaster could beat Peterborough at home.
Whatever happens on the 9th of May, Lincoln have certainly outperformed themselves and proven themselves to be a club on an upward trajectory. Another fantastic moment in Lincolns recent success.
